Repurchase
Also called: repurchase or buyback
Repurchase is buying back goods that have previously been sold or owned. You could think of it as a form of repossession, but often on a larger scale and often for different reasons.
The concept of repurchase serves, for example, in the trading of shares, companies and real estate. In specific cases, the (initial) right to repurchase is already contractually established at the time of sale. A company may repurchase its own shares to allow shareholders to achieve the desired return and to give the remaining shareholders more control. When business units are sold, not infrequently the option to buy back the unit is created, for example, to protect the competitive position.
