Retail or retail is the market that consists of (re)selling products and services to consumers. Companies operating in retail can be traditional stores (think supermarkets and specialty stores), whether or not located in a city center or shopping center. However, retail can also take place online in the form of web shops.
Retail can be further divided based on the type of product found there. Consider food, fashion, home and sporting goods. Retail is the last link in a business chain.
The area within marketing that focuses specifically on retail is called retail marketing.
