Margin
Also called: margin
The margin is the difference between purchase and sales price. The margin can be expressed as a percentage and as an amount per item. From this portion of sales, costs such as personnel, housing and marketing can be paid. The result that then remains is the profit booked.
On the purchase price and other costs, a seller often has little or no influence. Therefore, reducing or increasing the selling price is the most important tool to influence the margin and profit rate.
Margins in printing
Within typography, the term margin refers to the white space around (part of) a document or page. The edges around the typesetting area of a page are also referred to as page margin.
