Forecast
A prognosis is the prediction of an expected outcome or probable outcome. Prognosis is derived from the Greek word prognosis, which means foreknowledge. To prognosticate is to make forecasts.
Forecasts can be calculated using the data available so far (in the case of an annual forecast: from January 1 to the present) and comparing them, if applicable, with past figures.
Forecasting can take into account pending marketing activities, open bids and trends in the market. Among other things, a forecast can be used to estimate a company's financial position. This can be either a snapshot of an ongoing business, or at the start of a new business in the form of a business plan.
