Web Analysis
Also called: web statistics or web analytics
Web analytics is the measurement and analysis of the use of a Web site or Web application. Statistics about the visits to an Internet site tell a lot about the effectiveness of a website and possible opportunities for improvement.
Web analytics includes looking at a website's reach and traffic (the amount of unique visitors, visits and page views). In doing so, it is interesting where they came from, how they got to the website and on which entry page, and via which exit page the site was left again.
Often, statistics packages also offer the ability to track certain events, such as conversion moments, and analyze them afterwards. Also, analysis of statistics is important to determine the effect of modifications to the Web site.
A popular (free) Web statistics package is Google Analytics.
