Footnote
Also called: note
A footnote is a comment or statement within a text that is not part of the text itself. Footnotes are usually placed at the bottom of the page (near the footer) or next to the text. For example, a footnote can be the explanation of a complex word, the reference to a source or literature, or a comment by the author.
The reference to a footnote usually consists of one or more asterisks (*), or numbers or symbols in superscript(1, 2, †, §). The symbol or number placed in the text corresponds to the character placed before the corresponding footnote. Thus, multiple footnotes can be added in a text or on a single page.
