IDEAL
iDEAL is a standard in the Netherlands for online payments over the Internet. The system was set up by several major Dutch banks and is managed by Currence. Payment via iDEAL is nowadays possible with almost all banks. The customer must have a Dutch account number.
If a customer chooses to pay via iDEAL, he is redirected from the online store's ordering process to his own bank's online banking environment. Here the payment transaction is authorized, after which the visitor returns to the online store. The web shop can immediately determine whether the payment was successful, allowing a purchase to be delivered faster.
Web stores that want to offer iDEAL to their customers can contract with their business account or use a payment service provider to do so.
