GTmetrix
A useful tool to determine and improve the speed of your Web site is GTmetrix. This tool assesses your website on 30 different points. A kind of APK for your website instead of car. You can enter the url of your website into GTmetrix to see the following data:
GTmetrix Grade
- Performance - The performance score counts 70% toward the GTmetrix Grade and reflects how your page is performing from the user's perspective
- Structure - Structure score counts for 30% of the GTmetrix Grade and reflects how well your website is structured for optimal performance
Web Vitals
- Page Load Time - The loading time of a page, if your page takes longer than three seconds to load this should be improved
- Total Page Size - The size of the page, the page loads slower if it contains a lot of information and images of a large size
GTmetrix Grade
Based on the 70/30 ratio, the GTmetrix Grade is given an A, B, C, and so on. The highest score obtainable is A. The performance score consists of the six statistics:
- First Contentful Paint (FCP) - 15%
- Speed index - 15%
- Largest Contentful Paint (LSP) - 25%.
- Time to interactive - 15%
- Total blocking time - 25%
- Cumulative Layout Shift(CLS) - 5%.
The structure score does not directly affect the performance score. But it can improve page performance, ultimately resulting in a higher GTmetrix score. There is a complete list of structure audits to improve the structure score.
Improve Website
Each score section has a separate table of areas for improvement. The top improvement points in this list are the points with the most impact. It also indicates how much impact an improvement point can have for that score. For each point, there is a drop-down window that you can click on for additional explanation on how to adjust the points.
Do realize that it is virtually impossible to achieve a score of 100%. Also, not all points of improvement given are necessary. This depends on your website. Suppose your website considers it important to show high quality photos, then the priority is less on a fast website. It is also a matter of figuring out how to keep the scores as high as possible without losing quality website content.
