Y-axis
Also called: vertical axis
The y-axis is the vertical axis of a map or graph. Together with the horizontal x-axis, it is possible to plot coordinates or corresponding values.
In the geographical coordinate system, the y-axis corresponds to the prime meridian (Greenwich).
In a graph, the y-axis is usually used for dependent variables (such as sales), which are plotted on the x-axis with corresponding independent variables (such as time).
