Business Model Canvas

The Business Model Canvas is a model that allows you to map an organization in a visual and systematic way. Alexander Osterwalder developed the Business Model Canvas, which he based on his earlier work; Business Model Ontology. The Business Model Canvas serves as a blueprint for a company's strategy.
The Business Model Canvas consists of the four main areas of a business: customers, supply, infrastructure, and financial viability. These are broken down into nine building blocks that fully map a business.
The nine building blocks
- Customer segments
To which target group(s) the organization provides value. During segmentation, the characteristics of the target group should be identified.
- Value proposition
Define what the company has to offer and why the customer chooses this company. The value proposition includes all the benefits the company offers to the customer. Identify where the company differs from the competition.
- Customer relationships
For each customer segment, establish how you are in contact with the segment.
- Channels
Effective use of different channels ensures clear communication of the company's value proposition. See which channels are relevant to reach (potential) customers. Here, online and offline channels can be combined.
- Revenue streams
The revenue model for each customer segment.
- Resources
The physical, intellectual, and human resources required to make the business model work.
- Core activities
The key activities that make the business model work and create the company's value proposition.
- Partners
 Collaborations with others.
- Cost Structure
All costs incurred by the business model.
