Gross floor area
Also known as: BVO
Gross floor area (GFA) indicates to some extent the size of a building, expressed in square meters. It refers to the entire floor area within the exterior perimeter of the building, including support spaces.
When only the public area of a store is meant that can be used for sales purposes, we refer to it as sales floor area.
In retail, gross floor area is a commonly used measure to express the size of stores and retail space. Along with front width, it is an important qualitative characteristic.
