Trade association
Also called: trade association
An industry association is an organization in which several players operating within the same industry join forces. The legal form of an industry organization is usually an association or a foundation.
Trade associations can represent the interests of members in various ways. For example, by lobbying politicians and participating in collective bargaining negotiations. They can also conduct research and organize meetings and training courses aimed at improving knowledge, innovation and strengthening contacts within the sector.
A trade association can also serve individual interests. For example, in the form of collective purchasing, legal advice, dispute mediation, publishing a trade magazine and offering certification.
By joining a trade association, members support the organization's activities. Affiliation can also be used in outward communication, for example, to emphasize the company's value of knowledge, innovation and additional securities for customers.
Examples of industry associations from the marketing sector are IAB and BVA.
