Bind-in card
Also called: bind-in
A bind-in card is a separate advertising medium that is bound into a magazine or other publication. An example is a flyer that is attached to a magazine by folding it in and then stapling or gluing it along. A bind-in card is thus a variant of an insert, an insert that is not bound along.
Bind-ins can be located between the pages as well as on the outside (in front of and behind the cover). Because the format of inserts usually differs from regular pages, they have a higher attention value than regular advertisements in a magazine or newspaper. In particular, the often thicker paper of bind-in cards makes the magazine fall open easily at the page where it is located. Sometimes they are used as an extension of a regular advertisement.
In addition, bind-in cards are sometimes used to send forms. If the cards have a perforated edge, they can be easily removed. In addition to forms, perforation edges and also stickers are sometimes used to distribute discount coupons and vouchers.
The specialty within print marketing that deals with promotion through bind-in cards and inserts is also called insert marketing.
