Circulation
Also known as: circulation
The circulation is the number of copies circulated at a time of an issue (for example, a newspaper or magazine). This circulation can consist of both regular subscribers and single sales. The circulation of a book is the number of copies printed at one time.
In principle, the circulation of a publication constitutes the reach of the medium in question. This makes circulation figures an important factor determining the value of advertisements in print media. In the Netherlands circulation figures are collected and checked by the Oplage Instituut (HOI). This institute gives advertisers and media agencies reliable insight into circulation figures.
The term print run can also refer to products other than printed matter. Consider products of which a numbered or small number is produced, such as collectors' items.
