Voice-over

A voice-over is spoken text that accompanies images, usually on television. The voice-over can be a narrative voice that talks together off-screen the items of a television program, the commentary voice to a film or documentary, or the narrator who conveys the message of an advertising commercial.
The term can refer to both the on the text being spoken and the voice actor. For the voice-over of commercials, well-known people are often chosen. Reasons for this are that this makes the commercial attract more attention and that the hired voice is trusted and appreciated by the target audience of the spot.
