Email signature
Also called: mail signature
An e-mail signature is a fixed closing below an e-mail containing a goodbye greeting, the sender's name and possibly associated company information. E-mail programs can be set to automatically include a fixed text under each e-mail message sent. Organizations usually use a fixed e-mail signature so that all employees follow the same pattern.
The e-mail signature may be defined as part of the organization's corporate identity in the corporate identity guidelines. The signature may include the company's logo in addition to a greeting, person's name and company name. Usually contact information is also listed, such as the e-mail address, mailing address and phone number. A link to the website is also common.
Working with fixed e-mail signatures also provides a great opportunity to include a call-to-action in them. For example, the recipient could be invited to sign up for a newsletter or follow the organization on Twitter.
