The acronym HIPPO stands for Highest Paid Person's Opinion.
In many organizations, employees with the best salary and the most authority have the last word. Often literally and not only that they carry the most responsibility. Not infrequently, directors and managers think they know better than colleagues in lower positions and tend to be guided by their own opinions, even when other employees have more knowledge within a particular field.
In addition to the fact that the presence of a hippo in the organization can be demotivating for a team, there is a chance that important decisions will be made without providing space for valuable ideas or arguments from others.
