Consumer & Market Authority
Also known as: ACM
The Consumer & Market Authority (ACM) oversees fair competition and protects the interests of consumers on behalf of the government.
The ACM was created in 2013 with the merger of the Consumer Authority, NMA and OPTA. The ACM is an independent administrative body under the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The ACM provides competition supervision, sector-specific market supervision and consumer protection. When parties fail to comply with the legislation applicable here, the ACM can take action.
In addition to enforcement, activities include informing both business owners and consumers. One of the ways the ACM informs consumers about their rights is the website ConsuWijzer.nl.
