List broker
Also called: list broker
A list broker is an intermediary for those who want to run direct marketing campaigns via direct mail, e-mail or telemarketing and list owners. Because the list broker receives a commission from the list owner, the client does not pay for the list broker's service, but only for the list(s).
A list broker looks for the best lists based on information such as the product, target market, geographic location, and the client's budget. List brokers offer lists with at least the name and address of the people on the list. Consumer lists may include additional information such as age, gender, and income. Company lists regularly include information such as job titles, industry, and staff size. The client uses these lists for effective marketing campaigns.
Many promotional mail campaigns use lists they obtain through list brokers.
