Affiliate network
Also known as: affiliate network
An affiliate network is an agency that specializes in bringing together supply and demand in the field of affiliate marketing. Advertisers can offer their online campaigns to affiliate networks, which then allow website publishers to place these campaigns on their websites.
In affiliate marketing, advertising placement is usually charged on a cost per action or cost per click basis. The affiliate network measures how many clicks through or conversions occur via a banner or text link. Based on this, costs are charged to the advertiser and revenue is distributed to the affiliate. Billing to advertisers and payment to publishers is handled entirely by the network.
Of the revenue generated, the affiliate network retains a small portion for managing the campaign. Some networks also charge a flat fee to advertisers for maintaining the affiliate campaign. Publishers can join for free.
Well-known affiliate partners operating in the Netherlands are Daisycon, Affilinet, Awin, M4N, TradeDoubler and TradeTracker.
