Abri
Also called: bus shelter, streetcar shelter or waiting shelter
An abri is a semi-open waiting shelter, usually made mostly of glass. Abri's are commonly placed in public transportation at stops and stations to provide shelter and shelter for passengers while they wait for a bus, streetcar or train. The word abri is derived from the French verb abriter, which means "to shelter. When an abri is located at a bus or streetcar stop, it is also called a bus shelter or streetcar shelter.
Because of their high visibility in public spaces, bus shelters are often equipped with possibilities for outdoor advertising. This is often done by constructing one or more walls as a large light box in which posters can be hung.
Advertising revenue is used in part to cover the cost of the bus shelter. The operation covers not only the purchase and installation, but also the cost of lighting, maintenance and cleaning of the shelter and repair of any damage caused by vandalism.
