But when I read about Google Site Kit I got so excited that I couldn't resist immediately signing up to try the beta version and to write this article.

Normally I spend a lot of time opening all the different tools and now I can see everything at a glance.

Great.

I don't have access yet, unfortunately, but I'm going to tell you all about Google Site Kit.

Because whether you're an entrepreneur, website owner or online marketer, you need to know this plugin!

Google Site kit

What can you do with Google Site Kite?

If you type "Google Site Kit" into Google you get few results.

Today, Dec. 11, 2018, there are actually only three to four articles about Google's new WordPress plugin.

So I'm going to do my best to interpret Google's Site Kit website as best I can.

Google describes the plugin as follows: "Bringing the best of Google tools to WordPress".

And that's exactly what the plugin does: display the information, insights, data, charts (or however you want to describe it) in the back-end of your WordPress website.

So it is no longer necessary to first go to Search Console to find out what your average click-through rate is, then find out in Page Speed how fast your website is, and then go on to Analytics to see how many visitors you have.

You get the point.

With the Site Kit, you'll find everything in one place.

How do you install Google Site Kit?

On Google's website, they are not yet releasing much about installing Site Kit.

What I find quite comical is that Google says, "Just 3 steps and you're on your way.

While the image next to it shows four steps.

Install Site Kit

Nice one, Google.

But what we can take from the image above is that your website must therefore be connected to Search Console.

Is your website not connected to Search Console yet?

Then you should go do that first thing now!

Click here to go to the tutorial I wrote on creating and properly adding your website within Search Console.

Back to installing Site Kit.

In the screenshot, you can see in the small asterisk after the first three steps.

If you read the fine print above that, you'll find out that the first three steps are mandatory.

The last step, configuring, is not mandatory.

I think at this step you can choose which programs you want bundled.

THERE IS MORE!

Why I really got so terribly excited about this new plugin is because the plugin finally fulfills my desire of real data integration on a website.

Just look at the screenshot below:

Google statistics per page

As you can see, Google Site Kit shows the Analytics data for that page.

You can see how many impressions, clicks, unique visitors and average session duration the page has.

When I sat back and thought about the possibilities of this tool, I became even happier.

I really see so many possibilities ... what a treat!

Let's get both feet back on the ground for a moment, as the plugin is still in the beta phase.

That means you can't just take advantage of it.

You have to sign up first, and based on what you filled out, Google chooses whether you get to be part of the test group or only get notified when it actually launches.

So I signed up right away, why I don't have to explain to you.

obvious

But so (currently!) I have no access yet.

If I did have access, I shouldn't have told you anything about it.

Why?

While signing up for the beta, you have to fill out quite a bit of information.

For example:

  • Name, email, website
  • Your role, your company, purpose of your website
  • What plugins you use
  • What Google products you use

And second-to-last, it asks, "Would you be willing to sign an NDA?

A what?

An NDA: a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

I was immediately reminded of an acquaintance who had participated in a game show on TV and was not allowed to tell us whether she had won or lost.

My assumption was confirmed, because a non-disclosure agremeent is a non-disclosure agreement.

So, maybe I already have access to the beta and know exactly what the tool can do ... but am not allowed to tell you.

You will never know.

Mwuahaha.

muahahahaha

Who is the Site Kit of interest to?

I always think first from my target audience: the entrepreneur.

In general, I know that my target audience does not know all the ins-and-outs of Search Console, Analytics, etc.

While I do believe that these tools are incredibly important.

That's also why I think Google Site Kit makes programs like Search Console and Analytics a lot more accessible.

This is because the business owner no longer has to log into different websites after I set everything up correctly in the back-end of his website.

This immediately creates more support for my work, because the business owner can see even better what kind of results SEO and online marketing an sich produces.

And this ensures that the information that is displayed is much more accessible, it is visualized and displayed within the pages.

Thick win-win situation, in other words.

The screenshot below from the Site Kit website shows how manageable the information is:

Information per published posts google

On the other hand, Google's new WordPress plugin is also a breath of fresh air for me as an online marketer.

I need less time to gather all the information, so I can spend more hours on the work that really gets results.

In short, customers who rank even better online, sell more and have more visitors.

An even fatter win-win situation, in other words.

Actually, the Site Kit is of interest to everyone.

For a marketing manager of a large organization, for hobby bloggers and for a web shop owner.

For all.

Cost and start of beta?

As it is, the information is limited and few blogs have been written about it.

As far as I know now, there are no costs associated with using the beta or using the plugin when it is launched.

This is an assumption I am making now based on the information I have available and because I have known Google for a while now.

Not much is known about the release date, either.

I expect Google to start the beta in January 2019.

Google is not yet providing any information about this either, but The Digital Reader website also expects that in early 2019, the first people may try out Google Site Kit.

If you are also just as curious about this new Google tool then I recommend you sign up for the beta as well!
