As more and more companies are deploying NFTs and exploring the NFT space, I thought it was time to share some examples with you. So that you can get a better and better idea of what NFTs are and how you too can deploy them.
Taco Bell was one of the first well-known companies to get started with NFTs. A total of 25 NFTs were on sale and they were all sold within 30 minutes.
Proceeds were donated to charity, and if you bought an NFT from Taco Bell, you also got a $500 dollar gift card with it.
In a subsequent article, I'll tell you that NFTs are not just about digital art, but that NFTs have many other uses as well.
One of those uses is to self-release your music. And Kings Of Leon was the first band ever to release an album as NFT.
Kings of Leon offered several types of NFTs...:
The price of the NFTs started at €50 and the price of the most expensive NFTs quickly ran into thousands of euros. Should you now want to get your hands on one of the 6 golden tickets, you will have to bid at least €100,000 for it....
NBA Top Shot is by far the largest NFT project in existence today. NBA Top Shot is a combination of basketball, player card collecting and NFTs.
NBA Top Shot allows you to collect digital cards of your favorite players in the NBA, but you can also become an official owner of, say, a dunk or, say, a good shot a player has made.
When you buy that moment, you officially own (the video of) that moment.
NBA Top Shot not only plays on man's natural collecting frenzy, but also sells packages that you don't know exactly what cards are inside.
And we probably all know the feeling of getting something super cool (did someone say casino?).
All the companies and examples in this list I came across during my research on NFTs. Except Charmin.
Charmin only came up just before writing this article. I wanted to make sure I had included all the great examples, so I decided to do a quick search of international websites that had also written about NFTs in conjunction with businesses.
And there was Charmin.
Charmin is an American toilet brand and capitalized early on the developments regarding NFTs. In total, Charmin released 6 NFTs in which their toilet roll plays a starring role. Of these 6, 3 are gifs and 6 are JPGs.
In addition to the NFTs, you also became the owner of a physical display of the NFT. You could then hang that on your toilet, for example.
I don't know if you've noticed (as this is the second basketball-related example), but I love basketball and NBA. In total, I played basketball myself for about 7 years. And my love for the sport is even much older.
SLAM is an American brand that focuses on a basketball magazine, basketball merchandise and everything around it.
SLAM has teamed up with one of the NBA players with the most potential (Zion Williamson) to release a number of NFTs. A total of 4 different types of NFTs have been released. Two are blue colored and two are gold colored.
On April 6, McDonalds' French Facebook account announced that a number of NFTs have been created and will soon be available to win. The NFTs will not be sold, but you can win them on social media.
In total, there are 4 different NFTs and there are 5 copies of each NFT. And when you win one of the copies, you also get a physical version of the NFT.
But Daniel, top athletes and famous people are not a brand at all, right?
I partly agree, but partly disagree. After all, they may also have built their own personal brand. In the SLAM example, I already told you that Zion Williamson collaborated and released his own NFT.
But there are other top athletes and famous people who have done so.
And now you may be wondering: why do they do that? Well, quite simply. There are plenty of people who collect items from their favorite player or celebrity. So also digital merchandise.
Especially when you also get something physical with it.
The following top athletes and famous people have already engaged (been engaged) in NFTs:
And more will follow soon!
