Baseline
Also called: setting line
Baseline is a term from typography. Within a line of text, the baseline or setting line is the bottom line on which all the letters "sit. For letters with a tail, it extends through the baseline. Round letters, such as the s and the o, may extend a fraction through the baseline to maintain their flowing character within the tight alignment within the line.
The baseline is the lower bound of the x-height of the letters.
