10 questions for Alex Smarand

He is still awaiting his degree, but may start in the meantime. He prefers you to be direct and honest and brings a good dose of humor (according to himself). This is about Alex, the new addition to OMA. He has now survived his first week and tells you all about it. Meet Alex in 10 questions!

Question 1: Who is Alex? 

Hi, I'm Alex Smarand, 25 years young. I come from a family of 6 where I only have younger brothers. You get the picture: a lot of jokes are made there. Some say I have a special sense of humor. According to others... not so much. You see, I not only like bad word jokes, but also anti-jokes. For example, what did the farmer say when he saw his tractor was gone? Poh, woar is mien trekk'r?!

Question 2: What are your hobbies? 

I really enjoy trying new things. So I have kept quite a few hobbies and attributes from that . For example, I have special sportswear for the gym, a game PC, an airsoft replica (used monthly), a snowboard and good waterproof hike shoes.

I went to Poland at the beginning of this year for a hike and to Austria at the beginning of March for winter sports. Other than that, I don't have anything planned yet, but I'm sure that will come!

Question 3: Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 

I will know a lot more about SEO and SEA and have a lot of experience with different tools, so I can get great results. Furthermore, I hope to have my own house by then, but also to have done some traveling. There are a lot of places I would like to visit!

Question 4: What do you like to do on weekends? 

I can often be found with friends. Just for a day of board games, but also for a game of airsoft or another outing. I also enjoy going away for the weekend and going to festivals here and there!

Question 5: What is your favorite social media channel? 

I said goodbye to social media several years ago. For my internship period, I did have it installed again, but then deleted it anyway. Privately, therefore, I don't use it. Pretty crazy isn't it, for an online marketer? Professionally, I do see the benefits of social media (and ads). I personally just don't need it!

Question 6: What is your favorite music? 

After all, good music is good music. So I also like several genres of music. What I listen to mainly depends on the moment. Currently my go-to music style is techno, but that's mainly because that's what I like when I'm at the gym.

Question 7: What is your favorite travel destination? 

I would love to go to Egypt, Japan, Thailand, Australia, South Africa, Madagascar, Chile, Bolivia, Mexi... So plenty of places I would still like to see!

Question 8: How did you like your first week at OMA? 

I received a warm welcome with cool starter kit. Basically, that puts you ahead 1-0 on your first day at work. From day one I felt like a full member of the team. Okay, of course you have to learn a lot, but fortunately I could soon start working on my own assignments. There it became clear that the more you know, the more you realize that there is much more to learn. So I will keep on learning for a while!

Question 9: What will be your role within OMA? 

For now, I'm an online marketer. That means I get to get involved in basically everything. Great, because that way I learn all the tricks of the trade extra fast!

Question 10: What is your specialization within OMA? 

I haven't decided on that yet. As an all-around online marketer, my plan now is to dive into all facets of online marketing one at a time to discover what I enjoy most.
