These are the so-called keywords that you can then use within your website.

Of course, this applies not only to plumbers, but also to web designers, online marketing agencies, glaziers, locksmiths and many more professions.

Figuring out a few of those local keywords is still doable by hand.

But what if you are active throughout Gelderland, for example?

In this article, I'll tell you exactly how to figure out those keywords as quickly and effectively as possible and how to quickly identify local SEO opportunities yourself.

Step 1: Think about your service and jot down these words

In the case of the plumber, that's pretty easy, because that's the word plumber.

In addition, I would also use terms such as sewer unclogging or drain unclogging.

And at most installation company.

But what about if you are a moving company?

Then the following words may be of interest: moving company, mover, movers, relocation and moving service.

It is important to note all these terms for your business.

Rather too much than too little.

Step 2: Use Mergewords

Go to the Mergewords website and paste into column 1 all the words from step 1.

Then find a list of all the towns/cities from the province of interest to you and copy and paste it into column 2 of Mergewords.

Then click "Merge!" and copy the entire list.

Step 3: Find out volumes with KWFinder

Now we will find out if the combined search terms from step 2 are actually being searched.

To do this quickly and easily, we use KWFinder.

KWFinder is free to use, but if you want to do this as quickly, efficiently and as effectively as possible, I recommend getting a paid account.

Why I advise you to do so, read here: KWFinder Review: Officially my favorite keyword tool!

Back to figuring out the volumes.

When you're in KWFinder, click "Import" at the top.

Now paste the entire list from step 2 into the bottom area, set the location in the upper right corner to 'Netherlands' and click 'Process keywords'.

Tip: cut the list into sections if it is too large for your account within KWFinder.

Then you will see the following information:

Step 4: Choose the best keywords

Whether a keyword is "good" depends on several factors.

The most important factors are:

  • Volume (how often a keyword is searched for on average per month)
  • Competition (indicated within KWFinder by the Keyword Difficulty)

When you click on "Search" within KWFinder, you'll see that the keywords with the most volume show up at the top.

Then, in the 'KD' column, you can find out for yourself how much competition there is on a keyword.

Text writing, optimization and submission in Google

Now it's up to you to write awfully good text for the just-behind keyword.

Then, of course, you must also make sure that the text is optimized and that you submit the page in question to Google in Search Console so that it will be indexed quickly.
