Clause
A clause is a term often used in the context of linguistics, grammar and legal documents. It refers to a specific sentence or phrase within a larger sentence or text. A clause can have meaning on its own and express a particular information or action. In grammatical terms, a clause can be an independent sentence with a subject and a verb. In legal context, a clause refers to a specific provision or condition within a contract, agreement or other legal document. These clauses establish the conditions that parties must meet or describe rights and obligations that apply to the parties involved. They can range from general provisions to very specific and technical arrangements.
